I am Sang-Jae Kim, Director of the Green Hydrogen Glocal Leading Research Center.
Climate change and energy security are among the most pressing challenges facing humanity today, and the importance of green hydrogen technology as a fundamental solution continues to grow. In response to these global demands, our Green Hydrogen Glocal Leading Research Center is dedicated to advancing technologies for seawater electrolysis–based green hydrogen production, along with integrated operation and management linked to renewable energy.
Jeju Island offers an ideal environment for fostering the green hydrogen industry, blessed with abundant renewable resources and natural access to seawater. Building on these regional strengths, our Center is committed to maximizing the efficiency of seawater electrolysis systems and securing safe, economical green hydrogen production technologies through collaboration with leading domestic and international research groups and industry partners.
Drawing upon my previous research experience and my expertise in talent development as the Head of the BK21 Education Research Group, our Center will leverage the EVRI platform Education, Venture, Research, and International to drive innovative research achievements, cultivate field-ready interdisciplinary talent, and actively support technology transfer and entrepreneurship. Through these efforts, we aim to play a leading role in building a robust green hydrogen ecosystem.
The Green Hydrogen Glocal Leading Research Center will continue to take on new challenges and innovate, striving to contribute to Korea’s emergence as a global leader in the green hydrogen industry and to lay the foundation for a sustainable future.
